Ellis A. Foss Jr.

Ellis A. Foss Jr., age 82, of Mason, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2020. Ellis was born on May 25, 1938 in Southfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan. After graduating from Mason High School in 1957, Ellis joined the US Army where he proudly served his country from 1958-1962. On June 10, 1961, he married the love of his life, Joan Alice Cornell. Together, they raised two sons and made many happy memories living in Philadelphia, PA and then in Mason, MI. Ellis was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 25 years. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, watching sports, and vacationing at Walt Disney World. Ellis was a hardworking family man who will be remembered as being honest, generous, and kind hearted.
Ellis is preceded in death by his father, Ellis A. Foss, and mother, Avis Lucille Signor. He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Joan Alice (Cornell) Foss; sons, Robert (Lisa) and Ronald (Danielle); grandchildren: Kalon, Connor, Abbigail, and Parker; long-time friend and brother-in-law, William Cornell; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass honoring Ellis’ life will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at The Catholic Community of Sts James, Cornelius, & Cyprian Mason Campus, 1010 S. Lansing Avenue in Mason, Michigan, with Rev. Fr. Kusitino Cobona officiating. The service will be live streamed using the link below or the church’s Facebook page. Burial and Military Honors will follow the service at Hawley Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
